Research and Scholarship Focus:
My current research comprises my Ph.D. work and can be divided into two main areas which are: (1) structural health monitoring of a wind turbine tower, and (2) condition assessment and life prediction of such a structure.
My Ph.D. work proposes a methodology in which strain measurements can be taken from the locations most prone to failure, or “hot spots”, of a structure in order to find critical stress ranges that occur at vulnerable locations of a wind turbine tower. Using Miner’s Rule and the S-N Curve for that particular tower or structure, these ranges will help determine the life of the structure.
