The 2019 5th Annual Jack Lanigan Sr. Memorial Big Shoes Award is a special event recognizing innovation and achievements in manufacturing. The Award showcases and celebrates the advanced manufacturing community in the Chicago Southland who actively support education and workforce programs. The College of Technology is proud that our own Dean’s Executive Council member, Nancy Wilson, CEO of Morrison Container Handling Solutions in Glenwood, Illinois, is the recipient of this prestigious award.
The Chicago Southland Economic Development Corporation (CSEDC) is recognizing Nancy’s leadership in Calumet Manufacturing Industrial Sector Partnership (CMISP) working with young people to introduce them to careers in manufacturing. Nancy has worked tirelessly to develop and support at the secondary education level. She serves as an active member of the Purdue University Northwest Chancellor’s Board of Advisors and on the College of Technology Dean’s Executive Council.
“Through Nick and Nancy Wilson’s generous contributions and leadership, Purdue Northwest initiated its Mechatronics Engineering Technology program to address the needs of manufacturing industry in Chicagoland and NW Indiana. This program was the first of its kind in the nation to receive ABET accreditation,” stated Dr. Mohammad Zahraee, Professor and Interim Dean of the College of Technology. Nancy Wilson also currently serves as a Board Member for PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, and is the Chair of the PMMI Education Committee. Purdue University Northwest is a partner school with PMMI.
