Dr. Karen Bishop Morris is the Director, First-Year Writing Program and the Director of the Writing Center at Purdue University Calumet. Dr. Bishop Morris is responsible for curriculum development, program assessment, faculty evaluation, mentoring and professional development for the writing program. She also trains graduate students in the theory and practice of writing pedagogy. Her scholarship focuses on (1) using the teaching of writing to help students see their academic preparation as transferable to the workplace; (2) mediating literacy issues for first-generation and non-traditional students; and writing across the curriculum. She has been a frequent speaker and workshop presenter at the annual meeting for the Conference on College Composition and Communication, National Council of Teachers of English and Computers and Writing. Her work has appeared in English Education, WPA: The Journal for Writing Program Administrators, and several edited collections. She is a Hammond resident, married and proud mom of a Shih Tzu.
