I am a Professor of Biology at Purdue Northwest. My research interests are in evolution and animal behavior, specifically the evolution of animal communication systems. My favorite class to teach is the travel study course – Natural History of the Smoky Mountains. In this class students have the opportunity to learn about the ecology, history, and culture of the Smoky Mountains National Park in a one-week travel study course. I live a little south of our campuses with my husband, daughter, cats, rats, and dogs. I love being outside. I would rather be in the wood than typing on a computer. I did my undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and my graduate work at Northern Michigan University and Indiana State University.
