The Broadcasting concentration offers students hands on experience in audio and video production. Our 30-minute program The Roundtable Perspective (airing on Lakeshore Public Media) is produced by students in COM 43400 (Practicum). Students work with emerging camera technologies, including the Black Magic Cinema Camera and Nikon DSLR’s, to create various short-form documentaries and music videos. Professional awards won by students come from the Telly, Communicator, Videographer, and AVA competitions.
Students from COM 43600 (Scriptwriting) continuously place in the Broadcast Education Association (BEA) Scriptwriting competition. Over the last three years, students have won 11 total awards, more than any other university in the country.
